A 27-year-old man is in hospital following emergency surgery after receiving a gunshot wound.

The injured man is believed to have been shot inside a property in Bellini Gardens, Alkimos in the early hours of 31st July. Police were then called after the car he was travelling in crashed on Marmion Avenue. It is believed he was a passenger and was being driven to seek medical assistance after the incident.

Nearby residents were called on to help seek assistance, where Police and St John Ambulance crews arrived at the scene at around 3.30am.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, and is a relative of the victim.

The man was refused bail and his planned court appearance in Perth Magistrates Court after his charge of “Attempted Unlawfully to Kill” is set for 1st August.

The hearing could possibly be conducted as a bedside hearing from his hospital bed, after he also suffered some injuries.
