A plan to revitalise Broome’s Chinatown area and is moving ahead, with a preferred lead contractor appointed to deliver the job-creating works.
The State Government is investing $11.95 million towards the next stage of the Broome ‘Chinatown Revitalisation program’ to build a unique precinct to welcome growth and tourism to the area including hospitality and retail.
Georgiou Group has been appointed as preferred contractor, targeting 70 per cent local content supported by the State’s Local Content policy and advisor network.
Chinatown Stage 2 works will include extending the award-winning design themes of Stage 1 into Carnarvon Street, Short Street, Napier Terrace and Dampier Terrace.
Works are expected to start by November 2020.
