Kelmscott man faces court over car blazes

A 35-year-old man has appeared in the Joondalup Magistrates Court after allegedly setting fire to two vehicles in Haddon Terrace, Madeley.

It is alleged that the man arrived at the residential address at around 3.30am and poured an accelerant over a Toyota Rav4, and a Toyota Hilux, before setting them both alight.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze.

The heat from both fires allegedly damaged another car, a Nissan Micra, which was parked close by.

Police arrested the Kelmscott man at the scene and charged him with three counts of Criminal Damage by Fire, and one count of Unlicensed Person Possess Ammunition.
