Those hoping to get a ride home this weekend on public transport will revel in the fact that they will now be able to stay out a bit longer.
In line with the Phase 4 lifting of restrictions, which comes into effect from 11.59pm tonight, the regular free late night travel services will resume right through to 2.15am,
Services offered are:
- Joondalup/Mandurah lines: 1.15am and 2.15am from Perth Underground
- Armadale/Midland lines: 1am and 2.15am from Perth Station
- Fremantle Line: 1am and 2.15am from Perth Station, 1.35am and 2.50am from Fremantle Station
Transport minister Rita Saffioti welcomed the return of the late night services.
“As COVID-19 restrictions ease, Western Australians can again enjoy their favourite activities at the local pub, club or other venue,” she said.
“As our nightclubs and live music venues begin to re-open, it’s important we head back into the CBD and support our small businesses – reintroducing our free late night train services will give patrons a safe and hassle-free way to get home.”
“It’s another step out of COVID-19 restrictions and a great way for Western Australians to support local businesses and help boost the WA economy.”
