Teen 183km/h Dawesville joyride ends in impound

A 17-year old P-plate driver and his two 15-year old passengers were taken to Mandurah Police Station on Friday night after being clocked doing over 80km/h above the speed limit.

At about 10:00pm, the white Toyota Camry was detected doing 183km/h over the Dawesville Bypass before police began pursuit.

The driver, a 17-year old Golden Bay boy, was observed to conduct a u-turn and drive at high speed in the opposite direction.

The driver and passenger’s parents were all called to attend Mandurah Police Station.

The vehicle was impounded for 28 days and the 17-year-old driver will appear in court at a later date in relation to a Reckless Driving charge.
