VenuesWest, who operate HBF stadium and RAC Arena, have redeployed their full-time kitchen teams to Optus Stadium to help prepare meals for the needy during the CO-VID19 crisis.
The meals, valued at $55,000 in total will go to people in need across the State including those in need associated with Church of the Way and Salvation Army in Mandurah and Albany, as well as Feed the Children in Broome.
There are three options of packaged food: roast beef and gravy with olive oil mash potatoes and vegetables; chicken in a tomato, basil and mushroom sauce with mash potato and vegetables; and vegetarian fried rice with broccoli and egg.
The donations bring the total donations from Optus Stadium to $125,000 after they earlier donated food and beverages from the ground.
Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray praised their efforts and also lauded the job retention aspect of the redeployment.
“It is important as we enter the recovery phase of COVID-19 that we continue to think of innovative ways to create and maintain jobs as well as help those in the community who are most vulnerable,” Mr Murray said.
“Charities continue to do critical work in our community, so if you have surplus food please consider donating to such charities as OzHarvest and The Salvation Army.”
