Work begins on jewel in Belmont’s arts crown

Belmont City College will soon be home to a cutting edge perorming arts centre, with works already started on the project and a tentative opening date of April 2021.

An election promise by the WA Government, the $5 million facility will see the existing structure revamped and revitalised as well as expanding in size.

The new contemporary performing arts centre will have fixed audience seating for 250 people, a stage, green room, foyer and additional storage space.

Devlyn Construction will oversee the project that will be a boon for Belmont City College, who already have a specialised drama and music program that will benefit from the re-build.

Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery praised the existing programs whilst promoting the advantages of the new area.

“Students and staff will be able to take up new opportunities and enhance their teaching and learning once the modern new performing arts facilities are complete,” Ellery said.

“We want to make sure we are providing schools with the very best facilities so that students can reach their full potential.”
